Mallika woo nana

Mallika Sherawat enjoys a challenge. She is right now wooing the very stern Marathi manus turned Hindi actor Nana Patekar for a role. Mallika Sherawat is keen to play the role of Lavani dancer which was played by veteran actress Sandhya in V Shantaram’s Marathi Film Pinjra . It is believed that the actress is in talks with her one of the best buddies of Bollywood Nana Patekar, to make the remake of the same film in Hindi. Mallika Sherawat and Nana Patekar shared a fantastic onscreen chemistry in Anees Bazami’s Welcome . But very few know that their onscreen chemistry rocks because they have a very good off screen rapport. Recently when Mallika was shooting at Filmistan Studio for Sanjay Chhel’s Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Aazam , she immediately went and dragged him to her set. Everyone from her co star Rahul Bose, Paresh Raval and Director Sanjay Chhel were delighted by his presence. Nana gelled with everyone on the set. After all the fun, Nana and Mallika had some serious conversation over this film. A unit hand from the set informs that duo had a long discussion over the remake of Pinjra . Mallika desperately wants Nana to remake the classic Marathi film Pinjra which was a revenge story of a woman. Apparently Mallika is keen to do Sandhya’s role who gave a powerful performance. Also she suggested Nana to do Sriram Lagoo’s character. Pinjra is the story of a folk dancer who vows to take revenge on a village teacher for the insult she faced in the village. But later she herself falls in love with the teacher seeing his unselfish character. The teacher also gets involved in her emotionally and physically, thus moving away from his character, which was worshipped by the villagers. When released years back, Pinjra was a blockbuster hit that gave huge recognition to Marathi cinema. Mallika is playing Anarkali in Sanjay Chhel’s forthcoming black comedy Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam . It can be recalled that the same role was portrayed by Madhubala. It won’t be wrong to say that Mallika is highly inspired by such strong roles and is desperately looking forward to portray them in her films.

Will Shilpa Shetty marry boyfriend Raj Kundra

Will Shilpa Shetty marry boyfriend Raj Kundra
Well, it's now Shilpa Shetty's turn. The echoes of ringing temple bells have culminated into a possible wedding bell rumour for the duo. Apparently, Raj Kundra joined Shilpa, Shamita and mom Sunanda Shetty on a visit to Shirdi. However, marriage, they maintain is still not on the cards. And the yet-very-much-single Shilpa is flabbergasted by the 'misreporting', her publicist tells us. Not very long ago, the media got Rani Mukerji married off to Aditya Chopra, speculating a big fat Indian wedding in the city of Jodhpur. Bipasha's engagement to John was also another serious conjecture. The diamond ring on Sushmita Sen's finger began assumptions of her having been proposed to by then-boyfriend Sanjay Narang, and more recently the Kareena Kapoor - Saif Ali Khan secret nikaah was just the minds of many working overtime! But then Ash and Abhi did eventually tie the knot. Wonder what Sai Baba has planned for the Shilpa-Raj jodi.

Saif Ali Khan refuses 30 crore offer

Post, Race, Saif Ali Khan's career is racing ahead and is on a roll, but besides that, what was more bizarre was when he recently refused a lucrative, whopping 30 crore deal offered to him by a leading corporate houses. "Just after the release of Race, a leading corporate house approached him with a 30 crore deal, but to their surprise, he turned down the offer saying, he's not interested in money right now and what he's looking for is good work. Money can and never will come in the way of his good work. He has never run after money and after the super duper success of Race (the biggest opening after Om Shanti Om) in recent time, he knows, big offers will keep pouring in, but he's extremely cautious about the kind of work he should take up," says a friend of the actor. And when we asked Saif for his comments, he admitted that he turned down the offer as he doesn't want to take up more work. And he has always believed in doing 2 or 3 films in a year. "I have been taken seriously now and they say I'm salable actor, I choose to believe this. I'm serious enough to be signed with lots of money and interesting performances, that's all what I want. I will continue to do films at my pace and that's why I have got into production. The objective is to make commercial, highly entertaining and challenging movies," he says. So unlike other actors, Saif's sapna is not money money, what say?

One Two Three:

Rating : **
One Two Three , a situational comedy of mistaken identities won’t be identified as a musical comedy but rather a situational track album. Raghav Sachar who started in films with Kabul Express and has been composing and singing on and off ever since, gets to compose an entire film album this time. And he exploits the opportunity to hilt doubling up as a singer in almost every song of the album.
The title track opens on a very conventional note following a one-two-three beat pattern. Kunal Ganjawala is husky as always but its Raghav Sachar’s vocals that give the song a different flavour. That’s because he sings for the female portion as well, something which only Kishore Kumar had experimented in Half Ticket (1962) for the funny track O Saawariya. Raghav modulates his voice to such feminine perfection that, unless told, it’s difficult to identify that a male is singing in female voice. Since the less-heard Raghav comes with a virgin voice, it becomes all the more difficult to discover his deceit.
The ‘ Club Mix’ is your regular remix with added beats and fast pace. The ‘Ballad’ version is kind of a de-mix with zero orchestration and only the tune playing in pure harmony. The ‘Amalgamation’ version has added bhangra and qawalli segments to the hip-hop track. Lyrics are adapted in the tune of the trademark qawalli number Yeh Ishq Ishq Hain and the basic bhangra folk tune. Kaptaan Laadi manages the bhangra while Kailash Kher takes care of the qawalli. Clearly a situational number in the film, the song is interspersed with dollops of humour in its ridiculously amusing shayaaris and even a Spiderman theme song blended in between. This one promises more visual humour.
‘I Wanna Guy’ is your customary item number in Sunidhi Chauhan’s voice and, as the title suggests, is about a girl describing her dream man. The track is traditional to the point the verse concludes to a peppy reverberation. This perky ricochet adds distinction and acts as the recall value. It might sound weird but the use of clarinet here reminds of the one used in the Khalid Mohammed’s Arabic song Didi though it’s no way derived from that number.
‘Rock Mahi’ is as clichéd lyrics can get and as conventional a dance number can sound. Raghav gets back to sounding himself and his voice falls in the Sonu Nigam category. ‘Gup Chup’ is designed as a mellow seductive number where Mahalaxmi Iyer sounds sweet in the regular version while Shilpa Rao goes raunchy in the remix. Aditya Dhar’s lyrics are no great shakes with his choice of words being utmost unadventurous.
‘Lakshmi Narayan’ is the theme track, which at best, can be tagged as a compilation of some funny dialogues from the film. It works better off as a teaser trailer on television rather than a track on the audio CD. That sums up the album.
One Two Three is an average masala album that at best will survive as long as the film lasts. It lacks the potential to reach the top three positions on musical countdowns.

Yashraj in 2008

Yash Raj – the name itself makes a film lover expect a little too much from the films it churns out! Would that be the reason behind Yash Raj’s ‘mediocre’ performance at the box-office in 2007? The baggage of excessive expectations ruined it all for the production house as all its films except for Chak De India , were written off inspite of them being decently palatable (examples – Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Aaja Nachle ). However, let bygones be bygones seem to be the mantra that Yash Raj seems to be following. Come later this year and Yash Raj will try their level best to prove their worth by giving us the best of action, drama, romance and even animation!
1) Tashan Cast: Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar Director: Vijay Krishna Acharya Release date: 25th April, 08 Synopsis: Tashan marks the directorial debut of Vijay Krishna Acharya, the scriptwriter of the mega blockbuster “Dhoom” and “Dhoom2”. USP: Kareena and Saif apparently fell in love with each other on the sets of this action film! Need we say why we are dying to see this film? That’s not all! Other than getting to see Kareena and Saif’s onscreen chemistry for the very first time we’ll also get to see the ‘chiselled and sexy Bebo in a bikini’ for the very first time. Katrina: from nowhere to the Race…

From someone who refused offers just a few years ago, because of her diction today she's a much sought after star. Ms Kaif, sure has long way. The sexy actress who refused movies five years ago as she had to polish her Hindi speaking abilities is now speaking the lingo with gusto. What's even more surprising is that she has learnt the ways of the industry too; if earlier she would speak with the media quite regularly, today she is guarded about whom and when she speaks with but yes, she was always guarded about her relationship with Salman Khan and even then, as now, never spoke about it. As the contest hots up with the examinations coming to an end and big releases making it back to the multiplexes, Kats will once again be seen on the screen in RACE. This time she has Sameera Reddy and Bipasha Basu for company and screen space to share with. But considering her angelic face and dynamite grace, we're sure she will race ahead, but the all important questions remains ... will she race ahead of Salu as well? Well, well there are few things that left best unanswered, wot say?

Aishwarya’s advice

Think endorsements and you cannot help but think about stars and the big bucks they get for ten seconds of appearances. In a day and time when even the badshahs of Bollywood feature in every other advertisement for the sake of moolah and mass appeal, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is clearly one woman who stands apart. Not a part of the rat race, she has always been choosy above the brands she endorses. Her limited endorsement portfolio speaks volumes not only about her business sense but also her elegance. Indiatimes Movies takes you through a brief journey of this flawless beauty’s advertisement campaigns...
For those of you who can’t really recollect when Ash entered our lives through the TV screen and has been staying there ever since, we have a recap just for you. The green-eyed beauty’s association with ad campaigns goes back to her teenage days. Aishwarya’s first ever commercial was for Camlin pencils when she was just 14 years old. Maybe the then young Ash chose to model for pencils due to her inclination towards drawings. Remember, she wanted to pursue a career in architecture before modeling and movies happened to her?

Konkona: Too young to be old?

Just as we all were praising Konkona for her versatility we hear she turned down quite an offer. It was for Ghai's Black And White. Sen was apparently offered to play the role of Anil Kapoor's wife in the movie.

And though she initially agreed, she eventually backed out. She didn't want to play Anil's wife and claimed that she was too young for the part. She also said that she was currently playing Kunal Kapoor's love interest in some film, so she can't be paired opposite Anil at the same time.

Well, call these excuses or career strategies... But Shefali, and now Ghai, too, isn't complaining.

Saif’s unsafe stunt!

Saif Ali Khan never fails to impress us! About a decade back Saif did ‘Ole Ole’ and won the hearts of many women, however he never quite fit the bill of an ‘action hero’. His delicate body frame and chocolate boy looks prevented him from getting into the mould of a khiladi!

However, cut to today. Its 2008 and Saif has never looked this muscular! Saif has worked a lot on his body to look fit for the action scenes of Race and has succeeded in fulfilling his motive. However, in order to shed the excess weight that he had gained post Omkara , Saif didn’t mind sacrificing a lot (errr we are not talking about his sacrifice in terms of cancelling/ postponing his meetings with Bebo to give preference to his work outs!) we are talking about him sacrificing his fear!

We spoke to Abbas Mustan recently and the director duo revealed an interesting little something about Saif to us!

“Saif is scared of heights and suffers from acrophobia. So when we narrated a scene from Race which demanded him to jump from the 22nd floor of a building, he got cold feet and sounded apprehensive to do it initially. However, as an afterthought he accepted the challenge and agreed to do it himself. He was tied with cables and was told that he would be safe, but killing the fear that you’ve nurtured all your life, is not simple! After the first take, Saif got comfortable and jumped three more times to give the best shot!

Saif jumped 4 times and finally overcame his fear”, revealed Abbas.

No wonder Bebo loves this ‘rock star’ nawab! A thorough professional at work and a hopeless romantic otherwise... need a woman ask for more?

Dia Mirza’s pricey act

Krazziness is in the air, what with the Baadshah of Bollywood, SRK being roped in for a promotional track of Krazzy 4. But if there’s someone who is unfazed by all this and is acting pricey, it is Dia Mirza. The actress who has been missing from the celluloid screen for quite some time now, is playing the lead role in Rakesh Roshan’s multi-comedian starrer Krazzy 4. However, instead of considering this as her golden opportunity, the actress is acting pricey and seems to have refused all requests to be part of the movie’s promotions.

Now we wonder what has made this once-upon-a-time sweet lass develop such an indifferent attitude. From what it looks like, Dia seems to think that it is too minuscule to highlight a role where she’s being romanced by Arshad Warsi.

Isn’t it high time somebody tells this actress who has been hibernating for long that Arshad’s career is rocking; in fact, if someone who should have a problem with their co-star it’s Arshad and not Dia who can afford to do so. As far as Dia is concerned, we just have one thing to tell her – Babes, you better make hay while the sun shines. Coz while you were away and might have not realized, pretty is out and hot is in!

Priyanka’s soapy tale

Stars losing their temper because of the media’s undue interference in their personal life seem to be history! Stars creating controversies to stay in news and become famous is the ‘IN’ thing!

Media’s popular myth that only the wannabes and starlets can stoop to low levels and take resort to ‘frivolous’ form of publicity was broken recently by none other than Priyanka Chopra!

A former Miss World and an A grade actor like Priyanka Chopra didn’t mind promoting a FMCG product by actively participating in a controversy created by the company themselves!

Here’s a quick recap- The news of Cricketer Sreesanth calling up Priyanka to express his feelings created quite a furore in the media some time back! News channels flashed the story as ‘Breaking News’ and even played the audio tape of their conversation! Both Sree and Priyanka denied such happening, saying the tapes were forged and called the press to clear the controversy!

As we rushed to the venue in an attempt to know the truth we were kept waiting for two hours after which instead of Sreesanth and Priyanka clearing the issue, there were dancers who took to stage and tried entertaining us! If that wasn’t bad enough, soon tv actor Aamir Ali joined Sreesanth and started voicing his love for Priyanka in front of the press! The two men seemed desperate to seek Priyanka’s attention. “I flew all the way from Australia for Priyanka” said Sreesanth while Aamir confessed to go to any heights to win the love of the dusky lady!

After this delayed drama of two hours, Priyanka finally emerged on stage (looking gorgeous) thus further tempting the two men only to declare how “a soap” has made her so tempting”!

We were speechless for the rest of the night after getting to know the ‘promotional strategy’ of this soap of the star.. What further infuriated us was the trio’s approval of the publicity gimmick!

“This was pre-planned. Since Sree, Aamir and I know each other so well, we thought Lux’s innovative idea of promotion would be fun” said Priyanka. She justified Lux’s publicity stunt by saying, “The concept was catchy besides it feels good to have two men fighting for you! I don’t think this concept was cheap or even misleading! We as celebrities laugh off so many things written about us by the media which are not true. I am sure the people will take this ad in the right spirit and laugh it off too!”

On asked whether who would she choose between Sreesanth and Aamir if they were to fancy her truly, the actress said, “I don’t know how I would react if that would happen. I’ll be flattered though!”

A blushing Sreesanth who evoked the maximum applause for his dance performance during the launch (not to forget his ‘champu’ hairstyle) said, “I would never stalk a girl in real life. I would want to know her well before I make that phone call!”

Sreesanth also confirmed that he is single. “I am single right now”, he said. The Kerala speedster brushed off the rumours regarding his Bollywood career. “I am happy playing cricket right now. Films can happen later”, he said.

The controversy may or may not help Lux’s two new beauty bars, but it sure reinstates how soap operas came into being.. must have been a soap promoter who coined such a term because there was certainly a lot of drama for this soap cake.
